Graston Technique Available

Graston techniqueAccepted by elite athletes and everyday patients, Graston Technique (GT) is successful in treating nagging soft tissue injuries and conditions, whether they are chronic or post-surgical.

Graston Technique® is an innovative, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that detects and effectively breaks down scar tissue and fascial restrictions, as well as help maintain flexibility and optimal range of motion.

The non-invasive technique uses specially designed stainless steel instruments to help Capilano clinicians identify and treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.

Our approach and instruments enables our GT certified physical therapists to address scar tissue and fascial restrictions during your rehabilitation and to administer concurrent effective range of motion maintenance and strengthening programs.

Graston Technique® is clinically proven to achieve positive patient outcomes in treating the following:

  • Achilles Tendinosis/itis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Cervical Sprain/Strain (Neck Pain)
  • Lateral Epicondylosis/itis (Tennis Elbow)
  • Lumbar Sprain/Strain (Back Pain)
  • Medial Epicondylosis/itis (Golfer’s Elbow)
  • Patellofemoral Disorders (Knee Pain)
  • Plantar Fasciitis (Foot Pain)
  • Rotator Cuff Tendinosis/itis (Shoulder Pain)
  • Scar Tissue
  • Shin Splints
  • Trigger Finger
  • Women’s Health (Post-Mastectomy and Caesarean Scarring)

GT allows our Capilano practitioners to get as deep into the tissue as necessary to invoke change, yet be sensitive to your pain and tolerance. As the instruments are moved over the affected area and come in contact with the adhesions, they help break up scar tissue and fascial restrictions. In time, this process will reduce or eliminate the adhered fibers, restoring range of motion and eliminating the associated pain. It will help transform your soft tissue injury into healthy functioning tissue.  And of course, help you wake up to pain free living.
