Kick Aside Diabetic Foot Pain

| April 28, 2011 | Reply

Do you have any of the following foot problems?

  • Numbness
  • Tingling
  • Burning
  • Loss of feeling

Many people who suffer from diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) are disappointed  when conventional treatments such as oral medication or topical medication produce incomplete relief and significant side effects. Additionally,  DPN sufferers are further frustrated when other alternative options such as acupuncture and homeopathy do not provide lasting or satisfactory help.

Magnetic Biostimulation (MBS) therapy is a state of the art treatment option for chronic diabetic foot pain. MBS is non-invasive and drug free.

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) is a common and often disabling complication of diabetes.  DPN is estimated to occur in 50 to 90% of individuals who have had diabetes for more than 10 years.  Neuropathic pain symptoms can fluctuate and can be described as burning, aching, numbness, tingling and/or loss of feeling.  Symptoms are often worse at night.

Although initial symptoms and the course of DPN vary, once neuropathic pain begins, it is almost always progressive, leading to increased discomfort and disability.  Furthermore, individuals with DPN are a greater risk for foot trauma and infections.   Researchers believe that diabetes impairs the function of nociceptor nerve endings.

Magnetic BioStimulation (MBS) Therapy is a viable treatment option  for DPN.  Capilano’s new MBS G-Pulse is a state-of-the-art system that combines pulsating electromagnetic energy (of low frequency) with monochromatic infrared rays.  The application is safe, allows for deep penetration, and does not have side effects.

How soon will I see results?

You can experience a significant reduction in pain early in the treatment program.

Obviously, results vary depending on factors such as the severity of your condition, the length of time you have had the problem, and how quickly your body heals.

MBS suppliers and practitioners advise that patients with chronic DPN conditions should expect at least ten MBS sessions, initially attending 3 times per week.

What kind of results can I expect?

MBS has been assessed by medical researchers as one of the more effective treatments for diabetic neuropathy currently available.  A recent clinical study at Loma Linda University reported that 76% of patients had good to excellent results.

How does MBS work?

MBS, combined with the infrared, stimulates circulation and also the exchange of ions between the inner and outer cell walls of the affected area. The increased energy metabolism appears to allow disrupted nociceptors and nerve axons to operate more efficiently.

What contraindications are there for MBS?

You are NOT a candidate for MBS if you are pregnant, or if have a pacemaker, juvenile diabetes, thyroid hypertrophy, acute tuberculosis,  bacterial infection, or internal bleeding.

Who examines me?

Your initial exam is conducted by a Physical Therapist. The therapist will determine if you are a candidate for MBS and prescribe a treatment program plan.  Treatments are subsequently carried out by rehab assistants who are trained to operate the MBS system.

How much does it cost?

Capilano’s MBS costs are affordable and bulk treatment purchase plans at lower rates are available. Low income seniors are eligible for a further discount.  Capilano staff care for their patients!
